To help community members learn more about aging issues, the Grace Center and Church of the Good Samaritan are hosting an aging summit focusing on important conversation points regarding older adults and their families. This event will feature geriatric and gerontology practitioners and academics who will share practical information about compassionate care, adult child/older parent relationships, Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and respite programs for caregivers.
Presenters and Schedule is as follows:
8:30- 9:15: Families and Aging: Navigating Adult Child – Older Parent Relationships (Margaret Manoogian, PhD)
9:15-10:00: Understanding Dementia and Caregiver Concerns (Melissa Cannon, PhD)
10:15-11:00: What is Adult Day Service and How Can it Help My Family? (Tera Stegner, BS & Heidi Igarashi, PhD)
11:00-11:45: Compassionate Care: Managing Life’s Closure with Grace, Curiosity, and Joy. (David Grube, MD)
11:45-12:15: Laughter Yoga and Mindful Movement (Sunita Vasdev, ADO)
12:15 – 12:30 Closing
Tom Fields, RPh will also have a “Talk to the Pharmacist” table available for participants during the event.
We will not be charging a registration fee but welcome donations to support programs at The Grace Center for Adult Day Services. You do need to register to hold a place as the room has limited seating.
