Resource: Conversation Partners Pilot Program
-
Pilot Program Dates: May 1st, 2020- June 5th, 2020
-
Description: COVID-19 has impacted two significant groups within our communities: OSU/LBCC students and the senior community. Many Public Health and Human Sciences students have lost their internship opportunities this year due to COVID-19, for many, this has compromised their graduation dates and left them with no foreseeable opportunities. Qualified students are presented with an opportunity to complete their degree requirements while serving their community. Although many are facing isolation right now, the senior community has been significantly impacted in their ability to connect with others. Students will be connected with individuals in the community to provide social connection/friendship to those who submit requests. This program is not replacing any crisis line or resources already established, students are practicing professional helping skills by providing conversation. We are able to offer this as a bilingual program through the duration of the pilot program.
-
Key Points:
-
This is a county-based program that promotes community connection and support
-
This is a remote internship opportunity to promote the Stay Home, Save Lives order

-
